Ideally, it’d be great if we all got at least half an hour (preferably more) of physical activity in every day.

Unfortunately, the reality is many of us struggle to squeeze in even basic levels of activity each day for a variety of reasons.

Time constraints can be incredibly discouraging for anyone trying to get fit. But, if that’s you, all hope is not lost.

According to an article in Psychology Today, studies have shown that even small amounts of exercise can reap huge benefits.

One French study showed that physical activity reduces mortality rates in a “dose-dependent” way, but even low levels of exercise (well below the current public health recommendations) have a protective effect.

Meanwhile, another study on the benefits of small doses of physical activity found that people who got up and moved around for at least two minutes for every hour of sitting had a 33 percentlower risk of dying.
